I have a theory that everyone will benefit if we supported a very small number of artistic endeavors every year. So let’s say that everyone decides to purchase three artworks every year.: Could be a painting, could be an album, could be supporting a podcast like this, which is arts-based, on a monthly basis. In doing so, what happens is that we create a stronger arts economy where it becomes possible for artists creating really good content can live off of their work. And I think it also creates some smaller tiers where people can make supplemental income, etc.

This does two things: it allows people to make a living off of what they do, even if it’s still a smaller number, which means there’s more people in society doing what they want and that has a huge effect on the energy in society and the interactions we have with each other. The second thing it does is that it takes artists off of the job market in which they would be competing with you for jobs at offices or retail stores or whatever. So by supporting artists, you contribute to suicidal improvement and you reduce the number of competitors in the general job market.

Let me add one more thing. What did you do during quarantine? Did you listen to music? Did you watch movies? Did you listen to podcasts? Did you read books? If you did, and it helped a lot, and I have a feeling that you did and it absolutely helped you get through the quarantine and it’s going to help you right now, maybe now you see the value in having the arts.
